Intro to Stencils, taught by Asher Mains will cover basic stenciling techniques and materials used by Mains in work such as the Sea Lungs series. This useful process can be used for making signs, decorating rooms or making contemporary art. Once the stencil is cut one can apply spray paint, watercolour, acrylic, oil paint, ink or any experimental medium to the stencil.
Students will learn how to set up a stencil from an image as well as learn the basics of how to cut stencils. Two weeks will be using the instructor’s templates and two weeks will be the students’ choice of image.
Intro to Stencils will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesdays at the Art School Greenz art room on Upper Lucas St. Art School Greenz shares space with the Berean Christian Academy campus.
The cost of the course is $100 and students will be required to bring their own supplies. Supplies will be bristol board or card stock and X-acto knives. Supplies should cost under $30 EC and are available at Bryden and Minors and Ace Hardware.
