Are you an artist looking to deepen your creative practice and expand your understanding of art? Join our 4-week course, Philosophy for Artists, and discover how philosophy can transform the way you think about and create art.

This unique course explores the rich relationship between art and philosophy, showing how philosophical concepts like beauty, truth, freedom, and ethics can inspire and challenge your artistic expression. From the ancient musings of Plato to modern existentialists like Sartre, you’ll delve into key philosophical ideas and see how they resonate within the world of art. Particular attention is given to how some of these texts from the Western canon operate in a Caribbean context.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How philosophical theories on aesthetics and beauty influence artistic creation.
  • How existentialism empowers artists to explore themes of freedom, self, and the absurd.
  • The ethical responsibilities of the artist in today’s world and the role of art in society.
  • How to create art that responds to deep philosophical questions and social issues.

Course Highlights:

  • Interactive discussions on how philosophy and art intersect.
  • Weekly creative assignments where you’ll apply philosophical ideas to your work.
  • A final project that challenges you to engage with political, social, or ethical issues through your art.

By the end of this course, you will have gained new perspectives that will not only inform your artwork but will also open doors to a deeper, more reflective creative practice.

Don’t miss this opportunity to challenge your mind and invigorate your art. Enroll today and take the first step toward combining philosophy with your creative journey.
